What is the jewellery made from ?

The piece of jewellery containing the fingerprint, hand/foot/paw print or picture is made from silver artclay. This is composed of real silver particles mixed with an organic binder. Once fired, the binder burns away to leave 99.9% pure silver, which can be hallmarked. All findings attached to your chosen item (chains, keyrings, cufflink backs etc.) are made from sterling silver.

Is it safe for my child/pet ?

The fingerprint moulding materials and inkless wipes are non-toxic and safe to use from birth onwards. We would always recommend, however, that you wash your hands, your child’s hands/feet or your pet's paws after use.

From what age can I take my child’s fingerprint ?

Well defined fingerprints usually begin to develop around 2 years of age, although this does vary and it is sometimes possible to get a good print at an earlier age. We would recommend that it is best to wait until your child is at least six months old before you consider taking fingerprints as the bones in babies fingers are quite delicate before this age. Don’t forget you can take your child’s hand/foot print from birth onwards easily, quickly and mess free with the inkless wipe kit !

Do I have to visit a studio to have this done ?

No, we appreciate that your time is precious and will therefore send you either a fingerprint mould kit, or inkless wipe kit (for hand/footprints) so that you can prepare these (along with any drawings) from the comfort of your own home. You then post these back to us in a prepaid envelope and we do the rest !

Is it possible to use my child’s previously produced artwork ?

If you have a favourite drawing that your older child created years ago at pre-school, or you have kept hand/footprints taken at this time, it is also possible to have these incorporated in jewellery – as long as you can provide us with a black and white photocopy.

When will my jewellery be ready?

Your finished item of jewellery will usually be returned to you within 21 days following receipt of your moulds/prints/artwork. If you need your jewellery sooner than this, please let us know and we will make every effort to meet your deadline.

Do you do home visits?

If you would like us to come and take your child’s fingerprint or hand/footprint and you have at least 3 friends who would also like to have a go, home visits can be arranged within a 10 mile radius of our premises in Earley, Reading. Don’t forget, if 3 or more items are ordered you are also entitled to a 10% discount.
